Erasmus + Key Action 1
Mobility for adult/school Education Staff

In case your organisation is involved in adult or school education and it is based in one of the twenty-eight Member States of the European Union or in any of the other pre-accession countries (such as FYROM, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey) then it can apply for an Erasmus + KA1 Mobility grant and receive grant for sending some of your personnel to attend our training courses for the next year.

How to Apply

In order to apply for an ERASMUS + KA1 mobility grant (in previous programmes known as Grundtvig and Comenius IST In Service Training Grants), you need to follow the next steps:

  1. Register your organisation on ECAS and the Participant Portal and obtain the PIC (Personal Identification Code) number. It should take you approximately 15 minutes.
  2. Contact your Erasmus + National Agency in order to be provided/download the KA1 – Mobility Project Application Form for either school or adult education staff according to the type of your organisation. Sample are provided on these two links for adult and school staffmobility
  3. Use the Distance Calculator to calculate travel costs for your project
  4. Complete all relevant sections in the eForm (some are automatically calculated and some others are completed by you).
  5. Validate the form, print and sign the Declaration of Honour page.
  6. Scan the signed declaration of Honour and attach it as annex in the eForm
  7. Submit it online before 12 am CET (Brussels) time on 17th March 2014

Application Deadline

Applications must be submitted fully online by 12am CET (Brussels) time on 17 March 2014There will only be one deadline in 2014 (i.e. one opportunity to apply in 2014). Projects will be able to start from 1 July 2014 and can have a duration of either 1 or 2 years

Tips and remarks for successful application

Please note below some useful tips to consider for submitting a successful proposal

  1. You need to get a PIC number otherwise, you will not be able to complete the application eForm for your organisation.
  2. The same application form is used  for both a) teaching/training assignments, job shadowing, observations as well as b) for staff training abroad in a structured course. In case (a) it is required to have at least one more partner as receiving organisation and include their PIC number but for case (b) as receiving organisation is the course provider (i.e. FIKO Institut für Handlungskomptenz) but in principle it is not required to include the course provider details and our PIC number. In any case, please check it with your Erasmus + National Agency whether we need to be included in the application form and provide you with a signed partner mandate (Please note that the content of the mandate, in the form of a template, should be made available shortly by the European Commission and your National Agency). In any case our PIC number is 949177205 and if you are connected to the Internet and click on the “Check PIC” button, then our organisation’s information will automatically populate the form. We can provide you a short description of our Background and Experience as well as the contact details of our Legal Representative.
  3. Based on the point above, you will not have to include as partner FIKO Institut für Handlungskomptenz that is the course provider but doing so will strengthen the quality of your application!
  4. Equally, you will not have to indicate the title of the course but only the country (i.e Germany) and include Berlin as the destination city in the distance calculator
  5. However, you absolutely need our course details in order to specify your training needs as organisation and how these will be addressed with a course in Berlin. The success of your application doesn’t depend anymore on the quality (as it was in Grundtvig and Comenius IST before) of the training course but rather on the justification of your training needs and the impact/benefits this training will have for your organisation, your students, your other trainers as well as for the training community if possible.
  6. Course fee for our 5 days courses is 350€ per participant. If you want we can also organize for you accommodation, transport and a cultural program.
  7. The grant amount requested cannot change if your application is approved even if you change activities or you add further mobilities.
  8. The overall project duration can be either 12 or 24 months. It is important to note that the project duration is the total duration for the whole project and not just the proposed activity durations (5 days per structured course session). The overall project duration will need to encompass all project related activities from promotion and recruitment through to evaluation and dissemination. The earliest project start date is 1 July 2014 and the latest end date is 30 June 2016.
  9. There is no upper limit on the number of staff mobilities you wish to undertake during the project duration, however, this number should depend on the size of your organisation and the number of your teaching/training staff that can travel during the project
  10. In case the grant to be received is less than 60K€ or you are a public body (e.g. public school), then you don’t need to prove your financial capacity.
  11. Under KA 1 Mobility Staff only one application per organisation can be submitted per application round (submission deadline 17th March 2014)
  12. The largest percentage of staff mobility grants is allocated to schools, and at least schools should take advantage of this application round (submission deadline 17th March 2014)
  13. For both adult and school educational organisations that wish to apply by 17th March to attend our structured courses, there are a couple of guides prepared by the Erasmus+ UK agency that are very helpful and with clear step by step instructions on how to apply successfully the application form for Mobility for Adult or School Education Staff. They are applicable to UK based applicants but most of the information in the guides is applicable also to all other participants. You can download them next: a) Step by Step Guide for application in Mobility for Adult Education Staff and b) Step-by-Step guide for application for School Education Staff.
